A Call to Action for Our Oceans

Join the Fight Against Lionfish Invasion

Discover how you can contribute to preserving marine ecosystems by understanding the threat of lionfish and supporting eradication efforts.

Understanding the Lionfish Threat

Lionfish, native to the Indo-Pacific, have become a significant threat to marine ecosystems in the Atlantic Ocean. Their voracious appetite and rapid reproduction rates have led to a decline in native fish populations, disrupting the balance of these ecosystems. Eradication efforts are crucial to protect biodiversity and maintain healthy ocean environments.

Current Eradication Efforts

Community Involvement

All communities which are affected directly or indirectly by the lionfish invasion are encouraged to participate in lionfish derbies and removal events to help control their populations.

Innovative Capture Methods

Researchers are developing new trapping techniques to efficiently capture lionfish without harming other marine life.

Educational Outreach

Programs are always being implemented to educate the public about the lionfish threat and ways to support eradication initiatives.

Our Journey Through Time

Explore the milestones of Lionfish Slayers as we tackle the invasive lionfish threat.

2022

Foundation of Lionfish Slayers

Our organization was established with the mission to protect marine ecosystems from the invasive lionfish, studying to find out exactly how bad the Lionfish Invasion is, and how we can help do our part in limiting their effects on the environment.

2024

First Major Major Steps

We began looking for potential funding sources from the government, that could help us with our efforts in eradicating this damaging organism from our hardest hit areas, and keep in check the areas least affected by it. We also began planning an extensive ecology course to educate divers about this nasty creature.

2025

Launch of Educational Programs

We Introduced educational workshops to raise awareness about the lionfish invasion and its impact on marine life. Part of these workshopsinvolved actually going out and culing these creatures as part of the education process, and to cultivate new and enthusiastic divers who want to have a great time diving while also making an impact on out ocean’s health.

Present into The Future

Collaboration with Multiple Agencies and Businesses

Into the future, we are and will be partnering with many dive entities to bring these devastating beasts into check. We have already partnered with ZooKeeper, to provide the required equipment to effectively catch and eliminate these animals from the ecosystem. we hope to partner with  leading marine biologists to develop more effective eradication strategies.

Key Features of Our Eradication Programs

Community Involvement

Engaging local communities in lionfish removal efforts to foster a sense of ownership and responsibility.

Innovative Trapping Techniques

Utilizing advanced trapping methods to efficiently capture lionfish without harming other marine species.

Continuous Monitoring and Research

Ongoing research and monitoring to adapt strategies and ensure the long-term success of eradication efforts.
